Customized Triathlon Training Plan
Jen Rulon is a Triathlon Coach with a Masters in Kinesiology and 18+ years of coaching and offering 1:1 Customized Coaching for triathletes.
"I trained with Coach Jen for a couple of years about 10 years ago. As a part-time coach, Jen successfully got me through several races with improved times and consistent setting of personal records and a strong Ironman finish. I had to end my triathlon racing after back fusion surgery. Last year, with approval from my doctors, I decided to return to the sport. So, I called Jen. Over the past 13 months, I’ve simply been amazed. During my time away, Coach Jen had committed to education and personal experience to become a full-time Super Coach." (From Facebook) I own my company and am on the road more than I am home. This makes it nearly impossible for me to properly plan and be accountable for my training. Coach Jen is great at personalizing my training to accommodate my life. Though the hours I spend training are fewer than 10 years ago, the plans Jen provides me are much more effective and my gains are consistent without injury. She has a real knack for helping to keep my head right and expectations reasonable. Jen is an amazing coach who can relate well because she is also competing. I am truly blessed to work with this inspiring Wonder Woman!"
"I hesitated to sign up with Jen because I thought, well I'm just not a good enough athlete for someone like her. I'm just an average person trying to get into doing triathlons. Well, I am so glad that I just went for it. You don't have to be the best, you just have to be the best you can be. All you need is the dedication and Jen provides the rest. She took me from no triathlons to a sprint, Olympic and now I have just completed my first 70.3 half ironman. Something that seemed completely ridiculous to me a year ago. Jen will give you a personalized plan, the skills to complete your goal, and you will give her no excuses and 100 percent. Also, you get a great community of athletes and built-in support. So if you are on the fence as to whether or not you need a coach, you do. And I highly recommend Jen!"
"Helped me with my swimming form and gain confidence in the water. She’s fantastic!!" (From Facebook)
"Your coaching was phenomenal! Obviously you have to be motivated to do an IronMan, but your training plans held me accountable! You knew when I should go hard, and you knew when my body needed to rest! In terms of being held accountable...if I went to hard you let me know, and if I didn't go hard enough you let me know!"
"Although this is the beginning of my triathlons journey…With God on my side, my angels watching over me and my amazing coach Jen, you better look forward to hearing about my amazing future in triathlons."
"I am fortunate to be coached by someone that is not only a talented triathlete but also genuinely phenomenal person, that I am lucky enough to call my friend. Jen has been able to help me achieve things that I never would have thought possible a few short years ago. I look forward to where this journey will take me. I know that I will arrive at all of life's finish lines with a smile on my face!"
“After 70.3 Ironman Mont Tremblant, I was driving back from the race the next morning, I got an email. I got selected for the Canadian Armed Forces team. I’ll be racing Challenge Penticton long course in BC this Summer followed by Ironman 70.3 Super Frog in California in September. I will be racing super frog under a military division which we’ll be racing against other countries armed forces and I’ll be representing Canada. I was the only female selected to race for Canada. How awesome and unreal is that !!!!!! And I couldn’t have done it without the tips, training, and encouragement from an amazing coach, Jen Rulon!”
"I asked Ilis..."What did you like best about our time together?" Communication! That is what I liked the most! That you are there every time and that you check our training week by week."
"A sprint triathlon, no problem. Ironman 70.3…no way I could do that! Or at least, so I thought until I started training with Jen. It wasn’t easy with the early mornings when sleeping in seemed so much better and more training after work when all I wanted to do was lie down and relax. Was it worth it? Hell yeah! When Jen tells you-you will cross that finish line with a smile, she ain't lying! Even after being knocked down for 25min from heat stroke, I managed to finish that race with a BIG smile on my face and thinking about my next ironman 70.3. And here I thought I would do this race to check it off the bucket list. Pfft! Thanks, Jen! Now I’ve been bitten by the bug!"
"You helped me to believe in me, and to believe that hard work pay with results. You showed me the power from the gym to be stronger and faster. You helped me to know, that any dream is possible if you are dedicate, discipline, work hard and work smart."
"Gold mine of online tri training for any athlete looking to incorporate body mechanics and strength training. I worked with Jen when transitioning to full Ironman training. It was important for me to continue to incorporate my Crossfit background and Jen helped with that balance. Her workouts where organized and she was so flexible. I work a swing schedule and horrible hours. Jen was able to be flexible with my level of exhaustion and keep me ahead of the game when prepping for Ironman distance. During race prep, she helped with not only tailored race plans for various venues but mentally got me where I needed to be. She instilled confidence and helped this athlete remain calm during a very stressful unanticipated race change (heatwave of 2015 IMCDA). Do yourself a favor and get on the Rulon squad and hire a coach who not only understands the wear and tear of Ironman racing but is flexible to your family, work and training. Rulon will help you maintain your performance and DTI (domestic tranquility index)!" (From Facebook)
"Jen Rulon was my wife's coach for her ironman journey. As I watched as my wife quickly progressed from a person with very limited athletic abilities, to someone who began doing amazing athletic things. As my wife finished her first Ironman in AZ last year, I thought, WTH I am going to try this too! One major problem is that I am a very busy doctor and family man with little time to train. Thankfully, Jen understood the time demands and helped build a training program that would assure I could do the full ironman distance. Jen also was very helpful in modifying things if there was no way for me to get all the workouts in. By the time race day rolled around, I had no doubt that my body could handle the physical demands of doing an Ironman. On race day, Jen was literally a lifesaver at the beginning, middle and end of the race. I won't bore you with the details, but my race day could have been catastrophic had she not been there to help me through. I recommend her to anyone who may be crazy enough to try triathlons." "Jen will make you believe you can do anything! She literally turned my can't into cans! She was there for me on my good days and got me through the not so good days. She adjusted my training to fit with being a wife, mom of 3, and elementary school teacher! She helped me set goals and crush them! In return, I gained so much knowledge that I will carry with me through life. There is a fine line between coach and friend with this one." (From Facebook)
"Jen has taught me so much and given me so much knowledge and confidence in myself as an athlete and person! She coaches the way she lives her life, which is beautifully and by example."
"From a non-swimmer to an All World Athlete. Our Journey as coach and athlete started in 2010 with a fun meeting at LifeTime Fitness pool when Coach Jen realized that I couldn't swim to save my life but I already paid for a half Ironman just 7 months away. With hard work, tears, blood, fun, and dedication, she got me to finish my first triathlon ever, Longhorn 70.3 and we have been at it since them. In 2018, under her guidance and friendship, I've become an AWA, a dream of mine. She is kind and knowledgeable and she lifts you up and helps you through the bumps on the road to reach your goals. I couldn't have done it without her. Love Coach Jen" (From Facebook)
