About three ago, I contacted my following on Facebook and my other social media and asked athletes, “Why did you start using a coach?” Something I realized about hiring a coach in 2000 was that I had a lot more FREAKING potential with a coach than just being on my own. Today I give you “Three Reasons to Hire a Coach.” (Elaborate more and hyper link to main coaching, triathlon coach and life coach)

Three Reasons to Hire a Coach

1. To Keep YOU Accountable

Triathlon Coach

They will ask, “Did you do a workout? Yes or No? How did it go? Why didn’t you get it in?”

Life Coach

They will ask, “Did you get that social media out in time, contact your employees, etc.?”

2. To Plan YOUR workouts for your life

Triathlon Coach

You let the coach know that you are out of town and you can’t do a swim or bike BUT you can do bodyweight workouts and run.

Life Coach

You let the coach know what your plans are, along with what your success has been, and that you are working through your failures.

3. For Keeping the Shit Real

Triathlon Coach

They will call you on your shit. Whether it is the good, the bad, or the ugly :)

See Triathlon Coach; same thing!

There are many great coaches and mentors out there in the triathlon world, and in the business world. Do your research and really ask questions on what their expectations are as a coach! Once you figure out what they are about, you will figure out if they are right for you!

AUTHOR: Jen Rulon

I have been coaching triathletes, runners, and cyclists for over 21+ years; I received my Master's Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Exercise Science. And as you may have learned, there is more to life than swimming, biking, and running. It is a lifestyle, and I am here to help you cross that finish line with a smile, whether it is an Ironman Triathlon or the Ironman of Life. You can find my knowledge shared in Triathlete Magazine, Runners World, on the TEDx Stage, the Health and Wellness Expo in San Antonio, TX, Southwest Research Institute Human Performance Summit, Training Peaks Workshops, "Self Motivation Strategies for Women" on Amazon, Men's Journal Online, and the New York Times. I also practice what I preach—she's a 15x Ironman Triathlete who participated in the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, on October 14, 2017.
